The possible solutions? Make the zone non-cancelable, and remove the 100ms guard switch recovery delay for non-assassin heroes. This is true both from neutral, as well as if you missed a block against a Gladiator (since you'll be in "guard switch recovery" from the missed block attempt).Īssassins, of course, don't have this problem, which is why assassins are also the best counter to Gladiator. ![]() ![]() When you add in the fact that non-assassins have a 100ms "guard switch recovery" delay before they can do anything after they change their guards, it means that heroes who don't have reflex guard are pretty much dead in the water if they switched their guard right before the toe stab was thrown. It's a fast attack with no "tell" leading up to it, so that makes it difficult to dodge on reaction even when used from neutral. The toe stab isn't a gladiator problem, it's a fight system problem. Most of the case doesn't even have that chance. A couple of heroes could probably do a side-dodge attack, but even that would be difficult because they'd have to beat the timing of the second part of the zone. Yeah, unfortunately, there is no defense against Gladiator's zone attack.
